About the qualification

The Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration develops and confirms occupational competence, knowledge and skills when working in a wide range of job roles in business administration.

This qualification may be suitable for you if you are already working in a wide range of roles in business administration. This can be paid or voluntary work to enable assessment of competence to take place.

The qualification aims to develop and give recognition of your knowledge, understanding and competence of working relevant to business administration work such as communication, providing administrative services, business document production and information management, managing personal performance and development, manging diary systems, collating and reporting data, preparing text from notes, contributing to the organisation of an event, administration of human resource records, legal context of business, developing customer service, payroll processing, social media, using spreadsheets, word, website, presentation and bespoke software.

 

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however you should have a minimum of level one in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.

Age 16 or above

 

Structure

The mandatory units are essential to the achievement of the qualification.  Compulsory units include communication, employer organisations and working relationships with colleagues.

The range of optional units allows you to choose relevant areas such as event organisation, employee rights and responsibilities, human resources, legal context, participation in projects, payroll processing and recruitment.

A minimum of 45 credits must be achieved to pass the Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration.

 

Assessment

The qualification is assessed by observation in the workplace and evidence of assessment of knowledge and understanding.  You must achieve all learning outcomes to achieve a Pass - there is no grading.

 

Progression

Once you have achieved the qualification you could progress to other qualifications such as:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration

  • Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading

  • Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service

The Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration confirms occupational competence in a specific role in the business and administration sector.

This qualification maybe suitable if you work in a wide variety of business adminstration roles such as administration officers, administration team leaders, personal assistants, legal secretaries and medical secretaries.

The qualification aims to develop and give recognition of knowledge, understanding and competence to support business systems, processes and services and contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive. These skills include the use of software packages, analysing and presenting business documents and managing projects as well as communication, team working, interpersonal skills and the ability to reflect on personal learning.

 

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however you should have a minimum of level two in literacy and numeracy or equivalent. However, it is likely that you will have experience in a business or administration role although this is not a formal requirement.

Age 16 or above

The range of optional units allows you to gain a more business focused qualification by including business specific topics such as information systems, business performance, negotiation, presentations, office facilities, administrative support in schools, legal case files, business data, bespoke business documents, recruitment meetings, events, employee rights and responsibilities, buddying colleagues, storing information, administering finance, human resource records, resolving administrative problems, preparing specifications for contracts, supporting environmental sustainability, software, customer service, social media, projects, marketing, innovation, business travel and accommodation, team performance, business continuity plans and processes, procurements, budgets, quality audits, equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, implementing change, networking, managing business risk, operational plans and the principles of leadership and management.

A minimum of 58 credits must be achieved to pass the Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration.

The qualification is suitable for individuals working or with access to work in a variety of senior business administration roles.

 

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements however you be able to work at level 3 or above or have equivalent experience in a business administration environment. 

Age 18 or above

 

Structure

The qualification consists of mandatory units such as Business Administration Systems Communicating in a Business and Managing Self Development.

Optional units can be selected to meet your individual needs: Principles of Quality Management, Operational Planning, Project Management , the Internet and E-Business, Marketing, Administration for Executive Assistants, Business Strategic Planning and Development, Management and Leadership in Organisations, Customer Service Management, Managing Finance Business and Risk People and Performance.

 

Assessment

The qualification is assessed by observation in the workplace and evidence of assessment of knowledge and understanding.  You must achieve all learning outcomes to achieve a Pass - there is no grading.

A minimum of 42 credits must be achieved to pass the Level 4 Diploma in Business Administration.

 

Progression

Once you have achieved the qualification you could progress to other qualifications such as:Level 3 Diploma in Management.

  • the Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Management & Leadership

  • further or higher education to undertake business related or other qualifications, including foundation degrees in areas such as business, business management, and business administration

  • business and management undergraduate programmes

  • business or management professional qualifications at level 5 and above

  • opportunities within their current job role/alternative job roles

  • specialised qualifications providing additional technical knowledge

  • job roles such as operations director, business development manager or company secretary
